Objectives of the Course

Teaching students of Western Languages, the analysis of the Latin texts by means of the education of basic grammar and syntax rules of the Classical Latin Language.

Course Content

Grammar structures of the Classical Latin Language. Exercises for the analysis of basic Latin texts. Discussions of the notions of the Western Languages imported from Latin.

Week 1 - Theoretical
Introduction: Lingua Latina (Alphabet excercise) - Writing and spelling - Accent - Long and short syllables - Word classes – Features of Nouns and Adjectives, Introduction of the Course Book
Week 2 - Theoretical
First Declensions – Proper Nouns ending with -as; Third Conjugations: Praesens (Present Tense-Simple Present Tense), Infinitivus, Indicativus - Definite and Indefinite Nouns
Week 3 - Theoretical
Accusativus with -in and ad – Meanings of the Ablativus – Negative verbs - Interrogative – Basic components of the sentences - The werb metuo and accusativus.
Week 4 - Theoretical
Second Declensions - Nouns ending with -us and -um
Week 5 - Theoretical
Third Conjugations: Imperfectum Indicativus – esse and dativus – Accord of Numeral Adjectives.
Week 6 - Theoretical
Deus – Personal Pronouns – Third Conjugations: Futurum Imperativ, If Clauses and Futurum case
Week 7 - Theoretical
Adjectives ending with -us -a –um, - loci and loca plural suffix
Week 8 - Theoretical
Auxiliary verb of esse: Praesens, Imperfectum, Futurum Indicativus
Week 9 - Theoretical
First and Second Declensions genus rules - dea and filia
