Objectives of the Course

This course aims to teach basic logical concepts, types of evidence, conceptual logic, propositions and syllogisms, and informal logical errors. This course also aims to teach the use of consistent and correct thinking and the principles of expressing this in language in daily life and scientific activities. Since the science of logic is also an art of thinking, it also aims to provide the content of thinking, the views of Islamic and Western scientific figures related to thinking, various ways of thinking, and the ability to think critically and analytically. Thus, it is aimed to develop a scientific way of thinking.

Course Content

Basic concepts of logic, methods and principles of correct and systematic thinking; logic and language, relationship between logic and science, distinction between classical and modern logic, concept, types of concepts, relations between concepts, intension-extension, categories, definition, indefinables, proposition, types of propositions, relations between propositions, converse, syllogism, types of syllogism, five universals, five arts, logical errors. Introduction to modern logic.
