The main aim of this course is to provide students with knowledge and sociological perspective on issues such as the birth of sociology of religion, subject, method, important representatives of sociology of religion, religion and society relations, social functions of religion, religious groups, religion and modernism, religion and secularization, religion and postmodernism.

The emergence of sociology, the first sociologists and their ways of reading society and their approach to religion, the birth of sociology of religion, the relationship between religion and society, the subject and method of sociology of religion, the course of sociology of religion in the West and in the Islamic world, the meaning of religion in social life, its functions in social life.
