Objectives of the Course

The objective of this course is to develop students’ skills in reading, writing, speaking, and listening in Arabic at the B1 level. It aims to enable students to understand both modern and classical Arabic texts, interpret their meanings, and express their thoughts clearly in both written and oral forms. Additionally, students will gain the ability to use grammatical rules accurately and perform linguistic analysis.

Course Content

Sarf (Morphology): Word formation, verb conjugations, pronouns, triliteral and quadriliteral verb forms (both basic and augmented), active and passive participles, verbal nouns, and derived forms. Nahw (Syntax): Sentence structure, grammatical inflection (?I?rab), noun and verb types, sentence elements (subject, predicate, object), and topics such as adjectives, pronouns, exceptions, adverbials, specifications, and numbers. Qira?ah (Reading Comprehension): Reading and analyzing B1-level Arabic texts to identify main ideas, supporting details, and the overall structure of texts. Mu?adathah wa Istima? (Speaking and Listening): Development of communicative skills such as accepting/refusing, clarifying, thanking, inviting, congratulating, asking questions, and presenting arguments, through class discussions and projects. Imla? (Writing): Learning Arabic orthography, constructing coherent paragraphs with clear thesis statements, main ideas, and supporting details. Phonetics: Accurate pronunciation of Arabic sounds and letters, reading Arabic texts fluently and correctly, with practical exercises especially based on selected passages from the Qur’an.

Learning Outcomes
1.Students recognize the Arabic alphabet and develop reading and writing skills.
2.Students identify and use attached and detached pronouns, demonstrative and interrogative nouns in Arabic.
3.Students distinguish and apply noun and adjective construct phrases in sentences.
4.Students comprehend and use common daily expressions such as congratulations and condolences.
5.Students construct sentences expressing possibility, impossibility, difficulty, and ease.
6.Students use conjunctions and particles to express causality, temporal relations, and perspectives.
7.Students recognize key auxiliary verbs like Kâne, İnne, and Leyse, and construct and analyze sentences using them.
8.Students learn various augmented verbs, their conjugations, and imperative and verbal noun forms.
9.Students differentiate between sound and weak verbs, understanding their conjugations and uses.
10.Students identify types of objects and use them appropriately in sentences.
11.Students read and comprehend intermediate Arabic texts, recognizing semantic differences arising from grammar.
12.Students construct sentences using prepositional verbs and various conjunctions.
13.Students learn basic Arabic numerals, ordinal and cardinal numbers.
14.Students classify and use derived nouns indicating time, place, and instrument.
15.Students learn and apply syntactic concepts such as adverbial clauses, exception, and vocatives.
