Objectives of the Course

A religion finds its best expression through art; It reveals itself through the best art. Within the scope of this course, topics such as Islam's view of depiction, art and architecture will be included and an attempt will be made to answer these questions by approaching the issue of how Islam understands human beings, in addition to religious evidence. In order to better understand Islamic aesthetics and art, examples of early Islamic art will also be emphasized.

Course Content

Definition of Religion, Art and Aesthetics, Characteristics of Art, Islamic perspective on art and aesthetics, Hz. Islamic art in the era of Muhammad and the Four Caliphs, Islamic art in the Umayyad and Andalusian Umayyad era and its contents on today's understanding of art.
