Objectives of the Course

The objectives include providing information for students regarding oestrous cycle in cows, oestrous behaviour, endocrine mechanism of oestrous cycle, oestrous signs, oestrous detection methods, timing of insemination and ovulation. Moreover, some knowledge related to late and early inseminations and important fertility parameters are also given to students.

Course Content

Theoretical information on oestrus cycle, oestrus, endocrine mechanism of oestrus cycle, oestrus signs and detection, timing of insemination and ovulation in cows will be given.

Week 1 - Theoretical
Diagnosis of estrus and insemination on the yield of dairy cows and kittens, and the importance of general information about the effects of time.
Week 2 - Theoretical
Estrous cycle and follicular development in cows
Week 3 - Theoretical
Estrous cycle in cows and hormonal system
Week 4 - Theoretical
Types of oestrus and oestrus in cows
Week 5 - Theoretical
The changes in the genital tract during oestrus.
Week 6 - Theoretical
External symptoms observed during the estrous cows
Week 7 - Theoretical
Clinical and laboratory methods used to determine estrus.
Week 8 - Theoretical
Fertility control programs in Cows and factors affecting fertility, (Midterm exam)
Week 9 - Theoretical
Signs of oestrus and oestrus detection in cows considerations.
Week 10 - Theoretical
Determine the most appropriate time for insemination in estrus.
Week 11 - Theoretical
Time of ovulation, and gametes (ovum and spermatozoa) in fertilization female genital tract and the importance of immigration and residence times of fertile.

Gametogenesis, capacitation and acrosome reaction, fertilization.
Week 13 - Theoretical
Control of oestrus and ovulation and pregnancy rates in the early and late effects on the breedings.

Oestrus stimulation methods and practices to increase pregnancy rates in the time of insemination.
