Objectives of the Course

Examination methods to be used for male and female genital organs are given. Preparation of the undergraduate students for the oestrus detection and artificial insemination practices in field and to improve problem solving and decision making abilities in infertility cases are the objectives Teaching to lameness examination, fractures and dislocations operations, the organs of the abdominal cavity surgery, advanced imaging techniques, tumor surgery, soft tissue operations, pain management, Preparing the students in the field of obstetrics and gynecology clinical courses by teaching Gynecological examination techniques of various animal species with the interpretation of clinical and laboratory examination findings General and special inspection techniques and systems in different animal species, examinations, clinical and laboratory examinations in the field of internal medicine with the interpretation of the clinical courses of the student's preparation to teach.

Course Content

A basic knowledge are given on examination of genital organs in male and female animals, semen collection methods, semen biochemistry and examination, semen extension, short or long term storage, oestrus signs, estimation of optimum insemination time, oestrus synchronization, artificial insemination in roosters. Lameness examination, fractures and dislocations operations, the organs of the abdominal cavity surgery, advanced imaging techniques, tumor surgery, soft tissue operations

Learning Outcomes
1.To be able to comprehend techniques for general and special examination in different animal species in terms of disease
2.To be able to grasp species-specific features of the examination system
3.To be able to interpret and perform differential diagnosis for accurate diagnosis and evaluation of different examination findings.
4.To be able to interpret systems with clinical findings and specific laboratory findings
5.To be able to do treatment of fracture and dislocation
6.To be able to perform operations of soft tissue and abdominal cavity.
7.To be able to interprete advanced imaging techniques
8.To be able to do necessary examinations in different animal species in terms of gynecological diseases.
9.To be able to interpret and diagnose gynecological diseases with clinical findings.
10.To be able to easily apply general and special examinations on different species of animals in terms of diseases.
11.To be able to employ differential diagnosis examining the findings of different systems and interpret the laboratory findings specific to the systems in the diagnosis of diseases with clinical findings.

Week 1 - Practice
Biosecurity practices. Anatomy and functions of the genital organs in male and female animals. Andrologic examination protocols in different animal species.
Week 2 - Practice
Preparation of artificial vagina, semen collection methods in domestic animals. Macroscopic and microscopic examination of semen. Long and short term storage of semen.
Week 3 - Practice
Macroscopic examination of female genitalia. Controlled breeding and clinical use of reproductive hormones in cow, mare, ewe, goat, bitch, queen and pig.
Week 4 - Practice
Fertility parameters, infertility, artificial insemination techniques and estimation of the optimum insemination time.
Week 5 - Practice
Foot examination of diseased animals
Week 6 - Practice
Nail cutting applications
Week 7 - Practice
Standing dressing and bandage applications
Week 8 - Practice
Cattle finger amputation methods
Week 9 - Practice

Brought to the clinic patient evaluation and implementation timeline systemic doing applications (body temperature control, examination of the lymph system, visible mucous membranes of the examination, the examination of the respiratory system: phrynx, larynx, trachea, lungs, pleural cavity examination, pulse rate, heart auscultation, percussion, Veins control, reflexes check. Inspection Methods: microscopic examination, diagnostic surgery, endoscopy, video, diagnostic methods, etc.).
