Objectives of the Course

To teach postmortal findings and necropsy techniques and to teach cadaver and organs lesions and their diagnosis

Course Content

Postmortal examination, necropsy tools, euthanasia, precaution of necropsy, Making technical necropsy to different animals, considering morphological diagnosis. Factors of selecting method of necropsy

Learning Outcomes
1.To be able to comprehend necropsy
2.To be able to express general rules of postmortal examination
3.To be able to comprehend anamnesis
4.To be able to comprehend euthanasia
5.To have information about the precautions to be taken in necropsy (In preparation for necropsy, during necropsy, after necropsy, in the destruction of the cadaver ...)
6.To be able to figure out postmortal changes
7.To be able to name lesion definitions, macroscopic examination
8.To be able to acquire systemic necropsy technique according to animal species
9.To be able to exposure the body ventricles and separate the organs
10.To be able to analyse morphologic changes, diagnosis and prepare reports
11.To be able to take samples on the cadaver
12.To be able to dispatch samples to laboratory
13.To have knowledge about notifiable, to be recorded and zoonotic diseases
14.Communicate effectively with clients, the public, professional colleagues and responsible authorities, using language appropriate to the audience concerned
15.Prepare accurate clinical and client records, and case reports when necessary, in a form satisfactory to colleagues and understandable by the public
16.Be able to review and evaluate literature and presentations critically
17.Use their professional capabilities to contribute to the advancement of veterinary knowledge, in order to improve the quality of animal care and veterinary public health
18.Demonstrate that they recognise personal and professional limits, and know how to seek professional advice, assistance and support when necessary
19.Handle and restrain animal patients safely and with respect of the animal, and instruct others in helping the veterinary surgeon perform these techniques
20.Collect, preserve and transport samples, select appropriate diagnostic tests, interpret and understand the limitations of the test results
21.Communicate clearly and collaborate with referral and diagnostic services, including providing an appropriate history
22.Recognise suspicious signs of possible notifiable, reportable and zoonotic diseases and take appropriate action, including notifying the relevant authorities
23.Report suspected adverse reactions
