Objectives of the Course

a. To teach the general and local anesthesia methods and techniques in domestic animals b. To teach the basic information about cardiopulmonary resuscitation.

Learning Outcomes

1.	To be able to comprehend different techniques of sedation and anesthesia according to the physical status of all domestic animals .
2.	To be able to grasp the techniques of local and regional anesthesia in all domestic animals.
3.	To be able to explain complications due to anesthesia.
4.	To be able to apply cardiopulmonary resuscitation techniques.
5.	Have the necessary knowledge in anesthesia.
6.	To be able to know the anesthesia protocol to be done before euthanasia.

Weekly Detailed Course Contents

Week 1 - Theoretical

The aim of the course content and a short presentation. Information about the source. Application methods and theories of anesthesia.

Week 2 - Theoretical

Giving information about factors affecting anesthesia. Factors affecting the anesthetics intake, distribution and excretion.

Week 3 - Theoretical

The evaluation of patients before anesthesia and preparation, correction of existing problems, monitoring of the animal during the operation and general anesthesia.

Week 4 - Theoretical

Premedication drugs, anticholinergics and tranquilizers usage.

Week 5 - Theoretical

Narcotic analgesics (morphine and morphine derivates), neuroleptanalgesic (Fentanyl- droperidol) agents, alpha-2-adrenergic drug use.

Week 6 - Theoretical

Indications and contraindications for general anesthesia, terms of general anesthesia and selection of a general anaesthetic.

Week 7 - Theoretical

Inhalation anesthesia, advantages, disadvantages, application methods, inhaled anesthetics intake. The drugs used for the purpose of inhalation anesthesia.

Week 8 - Theoretical

İnjection anesthesia., Midterm exam

Week 9 - Theoretical

Barbiturates, dissociative anesthesia, non-barbiturate anesthetics.

Week 10 - Theoretical

General anesthetics poisoning.

Week 11 - Theoretical

Anesthesia complications causes, symptoms, attempts to fix

Week 12 - Theoretical

Indication of local anesthesia, infiltration anesthesia.

Week 13 - Theoretical

Horse, cattle, cats, dogs, sheep and goats, epidural and paravertebral anesthesia applications.

Week 14 - Theoretical

Cardiopulmonary arrest and cardiopulmonary resuscitation, anesthesia-related complications, emergency situations related to anesthesia, airway, breating and circulation.
