1-To teach theoretical information on the common disorders of the systems in ruminants and swine 2-To provide skills in diagnosis, effective and rationale treatment and prevention of diseases

Learning Outcomes
1.To be able to have theoretical knowledge about internal diseases of ruminants and swine.
2.To be able to apply clinical problem solving and diagnostic and therapeutic techniques in these animal species
3.To be able to diagnose the diseases with clinical and laboratory methods.
4.To be able to apply effective and rationale therapy of internal diseases in these species
5.To be able to figure out prophylactic methods to prevent diseases.

Weekly Detailed Course Contents
Week 1 - Theoretical
General introduction, stomatitis, infectious diseases associated with stomatitis (foot and mouth disease, rinderpest, PPR, VD-MD, CGB, oral necrobacillosis, Blue tongue, ORF, actinobacillosis), pharyngitis, paraplegia of pharynx, Obstructio et stenosis oesophagie
Week 2 - Theoretical
Gastritis and gastric ulceration in swine, Indigestio simplex, ruminal acidosis, ruminal alkalosis, putreficatio ruminis, ruminal drinking in calves, tympany, reticuloperitonitis traumatica, vagal indigestion, obstruction of cardia, ostium reticulo-omasicum and pylorus
Week 3 - Theoretical
Omasum constipation, abomasitis, ulcus abomasie, displacement and torsion of abomasums. General symptoms (colic, diarrhoea, constipation, blood in faeces, meteorismus and motility disorders) and diagnosis in intestinal diseases
Week 4 - Theoretical
Diseases accompanied by diarrhea (colibacillosis, rota-coronavirus, cryptosporidiosis, coccidiosis, colibacillosis in swine, salmonellosis, paratuberculosis, winter dysentery, helminth invasions, dysentery in swine), dislocatio intestini, dilatation and torsion of caecum Peritonitis, icterus and infectious and non-infectious diseases accompanied by icterus, liver abscess
Week 5 - Theoretical
Epistaxis, rhinitis, sinusitis, laryngitis, larynx edema, tracheitis, bronchitis, bronchopneumonia, acute respiratory distress syndrome
Week 6 - Theoretical
Pneumonia, pulmoner edema, pulmoner emphysema, pleuritis, cavum cavum pleural diseases, Some important infectious diseases of respiratry system (tuberkülosis, IBR, pleurapneumonia contagiosa capri)
Week 7 - Theoretical
Topic repetition (Mid-term exam)
Week 8 - Intermediate Exam
Cardiac insufficiency,arrhythmia cordis, pericarditis traumatica, pseudopericarditis, myocarditis, endocarditis, brisket disease Peripheral circulation failure (Schock, kollaps)
Week 9 - Theoretical
Anemia and diseases accompanied by anemia (iron deficiency in piglets, chronic copper toxicosis, water toxicosis, leptospirosis, anaplasmosis, piroplasmosis, theileriosis, eperythrozoonosis) Clotting disorders (warfarin toxicosis, anthrax) Sporadic ve enzootic bovine leukosis
Week 10 - Theoretical
Pyelonephritis, cystitis, urolithiasis, enzootic hematuria
Week 11 - Theoretical
Cerebral hypoxia, heat stroke, cerebral edema, Infectious diseases of central nervous system (rabies, pseudorabies, listeriosis, Borna, BSE, Scrapie, coeneurosis) Neuromuscular diseases (tetanus, botilusmus, strychnine toxicosis, organophosphate poisoning)
Week 12 - Theoretical
Alopecia, pruritis cutaneus, parakeratosis, dermatitis, allergic dermatitis (urtikaria), trichophytie, photosensensitization, dermatophilosis
Week 13 - Theoretical
Ketosis, pregnancy toxemia of sheep, faty liver syndrome, neonatal hypoglycemia
Week 14 - Theoretical
Parturient paresis, downer cow syndrome, hypophosphatemia, hypomagnesemic tetanies, White muscle disease, enzootic ataxia, pica, trichophagie in sheep, cerebrocortical necrosis, diseases caused by deficiencies of fat-soluble vitamins
