Objectives of the Course

a- To teach identification of frequently observed signifcant diseases in small animals b- To teach treating by choosing appropriate drugs and methods, and to provide necessary prophylactical applications c- To teach effective communication within owners, colleagues, and responsible authorities and to listen the target population in a suitable manner d- Aimed at constituting reqirements of continual renowal of the students knowledgeon the lecture constructed on basic small animal internal medicine.

Learning Outcomes
1.To be able to comprehend the disease in small animals regarding the major digestive, respiratory, circulatory, urinary and nervous system and diseases of skin and metabolism.
2.To be able to identify specified diseases, using the ability to analyze .
3.To be able to define diseases and methods defined by selecting the right drug for treatment.
4.To be able to assert necessary prophylactic approach to prevent disease.
5.Be able to diagnose the specified diseases with laboratory analysis

Week 1 - Theoretical
Course presentation, Gastrointestinal system disorders and gastrointestinol systems approach to the clinical symptoms of the disease, pityalizm, dysphagia, and diseases characterized by regurgitation
Week 2 - Theoretical
Diseases characterized by vomiting
Week 3 - Theoretical
Abdominal tension, mass formation and diseases characterized by pain
Week 4 - Theoretical
Diarrhea, constipation and painful disease characterized by defecation
Week 5 - Theoretical
Liver and pancreatic disorders
Week 6 - Theoretical
Respiratory system diseases in general approach (presentation, clinical, laboratory findings and diagnostic imaging techniques on the basis of assessment, diagnosis, differential diagnosis and treatment alternatives), respiratory disease (nasal cavity, larynx, trachea, bronchitis, pneumonia, bronchopneumonia, pleural space disease, and specific infectious diseases (infectious tracheobronchitis, distemper, etc.).

Asthma emphysema, pulmonary edema, pneumonia, pneumothorax, hydrothorax, hemothorax, and infectious diseases

General approach to heart disease, electrocardiography, diagnostic and therapeutic approach to arrhythmias, kardiyomyopati, right and left heart failure, dirofilariosis, ascites

Disease regarding hematology and hematopoietic organ disases, diseases characterized by bleeding
Week 11 - Theoretical
Pathogenetic and clinical laboratory findings associated with urinary tract system to evaluate acute and chronic renal failure, cystitis, FUS-Feline Urological Syndrome, urolithiasis
Week 12 - Theoretical
General approach to nervous system disease; rabies, distemper, lead toxication, toxoplazmosis etc.
Week 13 - Theoretical
Diagnostic approaches in dermatology, skin affecting specific diseases
Week 14 - Theoretical
Systemic diseases affecting the skin, the general principles of treatment of dermatological diseases, Endocrine diseases (hypothyroidism, hyperthyroidism, diabetes mellitus, diabetes inspidus, hyperadrenocortisizm etc.) Result of vitamin and trace element deficiency diseases
