Objectives of the Course

Teaching the principles of Thermal Turbo Machines and their applications in Mechanical Engineering Programme

Course Content

Definition of Thermal Turbo machines, one-dimensional isentropic flow, the nozzle flow, Axial flow turbine and compressor, Radial flow turbine and compressor, turbojet, turbofan, turboprop and turboshaft engines.

1.To learn the concepts and theory of subsonic and supersonic compressible flows.
2.To learn the types of turbomachinery, general definitions, classifications with basic dimensional analysis.
3.To learn turbomachinery design for subsonic and supersonic flows.
4.To learn methods of calculation for turbomachinery.
5.To learn the principles of similitude in turbomachinery.
