Objectives of the Course

The aim of this lecture is to obtain the skill of making manufacturing and assembly drawings; using the computer for drawing applications effectively; making mechanical system designs; reading the drawn systems.

Course Content

Introduction to surface texture symbols, dimensioning tolerances and geometric quality tolerance symbols, employing these symbols to dimension a mechanical part; technical drawing of mechanical elements and fasteners such as screw, nut, washer, bolt, key, pin, clips, retaining ring and spring; basic principles and terms of the gears, technical drawings of plain and helical gears and gear teeth profiles; technical drawings of the ball bearings with spherical, cylindrical, tapered and needle type rolling elements; assembly section mechanical drawings and general reading rules for these drawings; related exercises and applications.
