Objectives of the Course

The aim of this lecture is to obtain the skill of making manufacturing and assembly drawings; using the computer for drawing applications effectively; making mechanical system designs; reading the drawn systems.

Course Content

Introduction to surface texture symbols, dimensioning tolerances and geometric quality tolerance symbols, employing these symbols to dimension a mechanical part; technical drawing of mechanical elements and fasteners such as screw, nut, washer, bolt, key, pin, clips, retaining ring and spring; basic principles and terms of the gears, technical drawings of plain and helical gears and gear teeth profiles; technical drawings of the ball bearings with spherical, cylindrical, tapered and needle type rolling elements; assembly section mechanical drawings and general reading rules for these drawings; related exercises and applications.

Learning Outcomes
1.Draws the manufacturing and assembly drawings of the mechanical parts.
2.Makes the notation of the surface texture on the manufacturing drawings.
3.Makes the notation of the dimensioning tolerance on the manufacturing drawings.
4.Makes the notation of the geometric quality tolerance on the manufacturing drawings.
5.Draws the technical drawings of the standard machine elements such as bolt, clutch, key, pin, spring, gear, and bearing.
6.Draws the assembly drawings.
7.Draws the flow charts of assembly.
8.Makes technical drawings by computer.
9.Reads the technical drawings plotted by others.

Technical drawing of mechanical elements and fasteners such as washer, bolt, key, pin, clips, retaining rings etc.

Manufacturing and assembly drawings of a rubber wheel construction with pin.

Drawing principals of springs.
