Objectives of the Course

To provide ability to perform successful experiments, to estimate the accuracy of the experimental results and basic insight for the principle of instrumentation.

Course Content

The importance and the concept of measurement. Dimensions and System of Units. Static and dynamic parameters for the measurement devices. Measurement errors. Uncertainty analysis. Evaluation of experimental results. Presentation of measurement techniques. Displacement and area measurement. Pressure measurement. Flow measurement. Temperature measurement. Thermal and transport property measurement. Force, Torque and Strain measurement.

1.Understand importance of the measurement
2.Use systems of units.
3.Realize measurement errors and apply uncertainty analysis.
4.Learn static and dynamics parameters for the measurement devices and decide suitable measurement device.
5.Analyse experimental data and present results.
6.Measure various magnitudes such as dimension, pressure, velocity and flow, temperature, force and moment and strain.
