Emphasizing reading and writing, this course is an introduction to the rhetorical process. Students receive extensive background in strategies of planning, drafting and revising their own, original work. Students will also get help in developing voice and authority in communicating their own ideas and experiences to a specific audience, as well as in recognizing their own voice as one of many entering into an ongoing critical conversation. In other words, through writing, style and revision are major emphasis in the course. The subject will also be thinking, reading, learning, discussing and writing, all indispensable skills to success in the academy and to being an active citizen in our world. This will be achieved through intense engagement with three vital activities, critical thinking, critical reading and critical writing. More specifically, in writing the focus will be on preparing outlines and writing Compare and Contrast, Cause and Effect and Argumentative essays, as well as free-writing, editing, peer reviewing and class discussions.
During this course, the most outstanding concepts are reading essays in various types and learning how to create a plan for writing, an effective outline in order to be able to write an 'Expository', ‘Comparison-Contrast Essays’, ‘Cause&Effect Essays’ and ‘Argumentative Essays’ which will help the students during and after their academic life.
