Objectives of the Course

This course provides a fundamental understanding of urban transportation systems, including road and transit classifications, basic operating elements, and data collection methods. Students will learn to analyze transit capacities, schedule services, and the four-step demand forecasting process to plan urban networks.

Course Content

Introduction and basic concepts about transportation systems, urban structures and street layouts, classification of roads and transit modes, basic operating elements of transit systems (volume, headway, capacity, travel times, speeds), data collection and survey techniques, transit passenger volume analysis, transit service capacity determination, scheduling of transit services, four-step demand forecasting (trip generation, trip distribution, mode split, trip assignment)

Name of Lecturer(s)
Lec. Mehmet Metin MUTLU
