Objectives of the Course

It is aimed to introduce students with the historical developments of art in the West. To help students to gain theoretical knowledge and understanding about the processes involved in the western arts and to the perspective about the western art.

Course Content

The lesson examines artistic developments in the West chronologically starting from arts of Rome, to medieval, and to today?s modern art activities. Western Art, Development of the Westerns Art, Chronological Information

1.To be able to name the various periods of European art
2. To be able to identify the differences between various periods.
3.To be able to assemble various social constructs that influenced the formation of artistic periods such as Renaissance, Rococo, Mannerism, and Barroc.
4.To be able to recognize works of art that belong to European art.
5.To be able to recognize western art.
6.To be able to recognize a work of art with its historical period and artistic genre.
