Objectives of the Course

To create a repertoire for school music education by doing level-appropriate solfeggio, dictation exercises, and makam analysis studies with Turkish Classical Music instruments in different musical forms of Şed makams and compound makams.

Course Content

Learning of the transpositioned and some compounded makams used in traditional Turkish art music. Studies on small rhythms (usuller). Introducing the instruments. Analysis studies on makams. Solfege and lyrics of songs in various methods and makams and repertoire works suitable for school music.

7.Has the necessary knowledge about the use of Turkish classical music in education.

Çargah maqam and its transposed versions called "şed"; Solfege and dictation exercises in Acemaşiran maqam.
Week 4 - Theoretical & Practice
kürdi maqam and its transposed versions called "şed"; Solfege and dictation exercises in Kürdilihicazkar maqam.
Week 5 - Theoretical & Practice
Zirgüleli Hicaz maqam and its transposed versions called "şed"; Solfege and dictation exercises in Hicazkar and Zirgüleli Suzinak maqams.
