Objectives of the Course

Understanding the importance of biological science, the language of life, is the most important aim of this course. It is important to be able to show students who approach biology subjects by rote that the meaning of life is biology. In this context, different topics will be discussed and examples will be given so that they can look at nature, themselves and other living creatures with awareness. Emphasis will be placed on following the current literature on the topics mentioned and the place of these topics in science course content.

Course Content

In order to understand the importance of biological science, which is the language of life; Biomimicry, Microcosm, Plant communication, Nature awareness; Transforming plant blindness into plant awareness; Transforming ecophobia into ecophilia; Biomonitor creatures; bioinformatics; bioindicators; Effects of climate change on life; Sustainable environmental understanding; Prepared foods, preparation processes and dangers; Use of nanotechnology in biology; organisms in our immediate environment (protozoa, house mites, insects) and their effects on health; Drugs and their effects; Bioengineering and examples in nature; building biology (bio-house design, biological architecture and ecological building, human-friendly buildings); Green building (buildings that use recyclable and recyclable materials, turn to renewable energy sources, consume fossil fuels as little as possible, make maximum use of daylight, etc.); The importance of artificial organ production, organ transplants and organ donation; The relationship between the elements in our body and health; Introducing the concepts of artificially produced foods and conscious nutrition, following the current literature on these subjects, and emphasizing the place of these subjects in science course content.
