The aim of this course is to provide students gain knowledge and experience about serious games, which have been popular lately, and game based learning. Another aim of the course is to get students familiar with theory and practices of serious games, that can be integrated in both pedagogy and adult learning. Moreover, it is also aimed to get students become experienced in selection, design and produce games for game based learning.
The course includes theoretical input and practical missions about the design and the analysis of the technology purified educational games. Students are given readings, materials and sources. Students also play and analysis different games (luck, card, national, box, cooperation and roles) and compare the results in the frame of educational game design. As project teams, they design, develop and test educational games based on their own ideas. Thus, they find the opportunity to observe the interaction and change in the process of educational game design.
