Objectives of the Course

The aim of the subject is to learn the historical, social and and economic background of Roman İmperial Period; to know tthe characteristics of "Roman Art", pottery and other materials; to know the history of studies of Roman potteries, typology and chronology, production methods and stylistic developments and trade; to learn the Anatolian centers and their productions in Roman İmperial Period, excavations, surveys and bibliography.

Course Content

The economy and history of Roman İmperial period and their provinces. The pottery production, typology and chronology; ancient Roman culture; ancient centers in Roman İmperial period and their pottery productions; other materials (glass, metals); surveys, excavations and bibliography, museums.

1.Historical, political and economic events in Roman İmperial period.
2.The social, political and economic situations in Italy Greece, Anatolia, Egypt and Eastern Meditarranean centers in the Roman Imperial period.
3.To know the caharcteristics of potetry, glass and metals in the Roman Imperial period.
4.To know the production techniques, typology, chronology and analogy of of Roman pottery groups.
5.To know the researches and publications of Roman pottery and other materials.
6.To know the situation of Anatolia in the Roman Imperial Period and evaluate the materials.
7.To know the ancient centers, excavations and surveys of Anatolia of Roman Imperial Period.
