Objectives of the Course

The aim of this study is to define in interactions and analyse detailly the relations between; cultures lived in 1st millennium B.C. in Anatolia with civisilations lived before and after from them, within actual knowledge.

Course Content

Central and Eastern Anatolia at the end of the II. millenium B.C. and the beginnig of the I. millennium B.C. will be examined in light of the Urartian and the Phrygian cultures.

1.Learning of the political structure of Anatolia at the end of the II. millennium B.C. in the light of written sources.
2.Period of principalities before the Urartian Kingdom in light of the Assyrian written sources.
3.The birth of the kingdom of Urartu, cities and spreading area of the kingdom.
4.Understanding the architecture of the kingdom of Urartu, and settlement patterns of the cities.
5.Learning the Urartian art of the metalwork.
6.Learning the Urartian art of the ceramics.
7.Burial customs of the Urartians.
8.Learning the political history of the Phrygian civilization.
9.Phrygian architecture, cities and spreading area of the kingdom.
