To teach the techniques used in molecular genetics
Isolation of DNA from blood; effect of temperature on DNA stability; plasmid isolation; observation of the presence of colicin factor; agarose gel electrophoresis and running DNA in agarose gel; observation of the effect of UV on bacteria; transformation; amplification of DNA by polymerase chain reaction; cutting DNA by restriction endonucleases; recovery of DNA from low melting point agarose.
