Objectives of the Course

To conceive historical changes and formation of earth, continental drift and their effects on the distribution of vertebrates throughout geological periods

Course Content

General concepts, continental drift and positioning of land masses, zoogeographic regions of the world, factors effecting the distribution of animals, fosils and Cambriyen explosion, species and region kinship, zoogeography of Turkey

1.to be able to describe the hypothesis about the formation and drifting of continents since the formation of earth.
2.to be able to explain how past incidents effected the distribution and biodiversity of the animals
3.knows about the geological time scale
4.to have an idea about the animals that lived in ancient times
5.to be able to describe the transition of animals from the aquatic environment to terrestrial environment
6.to be able to describe glaicial ages and land bridges at ancient times
7.to be able to describe terrerstrial and marine zoogeographical regions
8.to be able to describe the factors effecting the distribution of animals and can group the different habitats
9.to be able to decsribe a basic pyhlogenetic tree
10.to be able to comment about the formation of Anatolia and zoogeography of Turkey
