Objectives of the Course

This course aims to teach industrially relevant microbiology; molecular biology, fermentation, cell culture, downstream processing and an overview of industrial organisms

Course Content

This course covers molecular genetics, recombinant DNA technology, cell fusion, embryonic manipulations and other application areas of biotechnology.

Learning Outcomes
1.To learn the basic principles of gene cloning and the basic stages of cloning with DNA analysis.
2.To learn the properties of plasmids and bacteriophages for gene cloning and the vectors to be used in gene cloning.
3.To learn the steps of DNA isolation from living cells, the processing of pure DNA and the preparation of DNA for cloning.
4.To be able to learn the selection of suitable hosts for cloning by entering DNA into living cells
5.To learn cloning vectors for E. coli and eukaryotes
6.To learn about gene cloning in agriculture and the application of cloning in agriculture through DNA analysis.
7.To learn about industrial microorganisms and their products and the stages of obtaining biotechnological products from microorganisms
8.To learn the characteristics of fermentation and its properties
9.To learn the industrial production of antibiotics and penicillins, which are products of the health industry, from microorganisms.
10.To learn the production of enzymes from microorganisms as industrial products
11.To learn how to produce vinegar and citric acid from microorganisms
