Objectives of the Course

This course aims to introduce students with contemporary sociological theories such as Structural Functionalism, Conflict theories, Symbolic Interactionism and help them understand the foundations of modern sociological analyses.

Course Content

This course aims to provide students with some basic skills for reading, understanding and translation the english sociological texts. This course also contains verbal communication and reading exercises in class.

2.Learn the difference between macro and micro approaches to the society
3.Understand the relationship between different social contexts and sociological approaches
4.Gain the ability to to look at different social and historical phenomena from a variety of sociological perspectives
5.Gain the ability to analyze social and historical phenomena from a variety of sociological perspectives.
6.Gain the ability to compare a particular phenomena from a variety of sociological perspectives.
7.Gain the ability to understand the different dimensions of the same phenomena by using pluralistic perspectives.
8.Scrutinizing a particular social phenomena from a particular sociological perspectives.
9.Linking the macro and micro approaches.
10.Gain the ability to to look and evaluating to the same phenomena in terms of macro and micro level from a holistic view.
