• to provide students with an understanding of approaches towards social change • To be able to analyze and evaluate the changes that have occurred in the process until today, from a theoretical perspective. • to provide students with a knowledge and understanding of discussions on modernization process in order to make them be able to inferred modern social dynamics • To be able to ground the developments in today's world on the axis of basic approaches to globalization and basic aspects of globalization. • to make students be able to analyze changes in Turkey from a sociological perspective and be able to identify their practical reflections
Main concepts of social change; Factors that affects social change; Macro theories, organism, evolutionary and dialectic approaches; Structural Functionalism; Conflict Approach; Micro theories, societal change approach, individualist change approach; Modernity and modernization; Modernity and its criticism; Globalization theories and discussions
