Objectives of the Course

To introduce and discuss main epistemologic problems such as subjectivity/objectivity, absolute knowledge/relative knowledge by proving students with a knowledge on the formation of social information in its relation with the general epistemological problems in philosophy of knowledge and, the place of scientific knowledge compared with other types of knowledge, and by discussing the characteristics of sociological practices of scientists.

Knowledge, types of knowledge; different opinion/understanding of knowledge; The relationship of knowledge and society; different thinkers and social scientists’ opinion about the relationship of knowledge and society; The concept of ideology and the born/emergence of ideology; Different approaches to ideology; The importance of knowledge and ideology of contemporary societies
