Objectives of the Course

Teaching the concept of the “New Turkish Literature”, the position of this (Tanzimat) period in Turkish literature, the effects of European Literature on Turkısh Literature in 19th Century, Literature of the period of Tanzimat and the economical, cultural, political and social situations of this period, general informations about the first representatives of the first Works in this period.

Course Content

The concept of "New Turkish Literature", the historical, political, social and cultural characteristics of the Tanzimat Period and their impact on literature, the changes and improvements seen in literary genres in the Tanzimat Period.

Learning Outcomes

1.	Having knowledge about the definition of literature, the artistic and scientific aspects of literature
2.	To have knowledge about the periods of Turkish literature and to understand the characteristics of the period called "New Turkish Literature"
3.	To have knowledge about the historical, political, social and cultural features of the Tanzimat Period and to be able to evaluate the impact of these features on literature.
4.	Understanding the general characteristics of new genres such as stories, novels and plays that entered Turkish literature in the Tanzimat Period.
5.	Obtaining detailed information about the changes and innovations seen in Turkish poetry during the Tanzimat Period
