Objectives of the Course

To teach the improvement of the types of “novel and story” in the period of “Servet-i Fünûn” To give extensive information about the Turkish literature at Second Constitutional Era To give information about important poets and writers of Second Constitutional Era and to examine examples of their works To focus on the important representatives of the National Literature and to examine examples from their works.

Course Content

Examining the general characteristics of Serveti Fünun period novels; Giving information about Halid Ziya Uşaklıgil and Mehmed Rauf, the important representatives of the novel Servet-i Fünun; The novels of Halid Ziya Uşaklıgil and Mehmet Rauf; Extensive information about Turkish literature of the Second Constitutional Era; currents of ideas; Fecr-i Ati and National Literature periods; New Language movement; The novels Gönül Hanım and Yeni Turan; Examining the works of Ahmet Haşim, Ziya Gökalp, Ömer Seyfettin, Mehmed Akif Ersoy, Yahya Kemal and Mehmet Emin Yurdakul
