Objectives of the Course

To develop knowledge about Turkish folk literature and folk poetry.

Course Content

Folk poetry and its position in Turkish literature; anonymous and personal products and its characteristics; Turkish folk poerty; its representatives (Kam, baskı, ozan, oyun, aşık, etc.); forms and versions in Turkish folk poetry; koşma, mani, türkü (folk songs), proverbs, and so on.

Learning Outcomes
1.Learns new information and concepts about the place of Turkish poetry in Turkish folk literature and can perceive the relationships between this information and concepts.
2.Can access Turkish folk poetry resources and benefit from these resources within the framework of scientific criteria.
3.Learns the anonymous types and verse forms of Turkish folk poetry and be able to interpret them.
4.Have knowledge about the verse forms and genres of minstrel poetry in Turkish folk poetry.
5.Learns about the types of verse written during the dervish lodge poetry period of Turkish folk poetry and the verse forms in which they were written.
6.Gains the ability to convey the information acquired in the field of Turkish Folk Poetry in an easy and understandable way, both verbally and in writing.
