Objectives of the Course

To examine the development of the novel genre in the Republican Era. To evaluate the concepts of classical, modern and postmodern novels through sample novels. To give information about the elements that make up the novel technique.

Course Content

To follow the development of the novel genre by analyzing novel examples from the Turkish novel of the Republican Era that allow a chronological follow-up. To obtain information about the important writers of the Turkish novel of the Republican period.

Learning Outcomes
1.To have knowledge about the general characteristics of the Turkish novel of the Republican Era.
2.To have knowledge about classical, modern and postmodern novel concepts.
3.To be able to evaluate the works of prominent writers in the Republican Era in the context of period-personality-work.
4.To understand the ability of the novel genre to reflect the social and political environment and to evaluate the analyzed novels from this perspective.
5.To have knowledge about modern novel techniques such as stream of consciousness and leitmotiv.
