Objectives of the Course

To give information about the birth of the novel, the introduction of the novel genre to Turkish literature, concepts and elements related to novel theory. To teach to analyze the narratives at the theoretical level by analyzing the novel, to reveal the meanings in the deep structure by finding the basic themes and conflicts.

Course Content

To explain the functions of the theoretical elements in the novel by giving information about the case, case parts (sections), narrator and point of view problems, characters, types, narration, showing, montage, leitmotiv, space and objects in the literary work. To approach the narrative at the theoretical level by analyzing novels through sample texts and to show conceptually and theoretically how literary works are constructed.

Learning Outcomes
1.to be able to explain the existance of fiction in the World literature
2.To have knowledge about the problems of narrator and point of view and to develop attention to these elements while reading literary texts.
3.To have knowledge about the plot, case, part of the case, people (main character, auxiliary personality cast and their functions in the plot) in the novel
4.To have knowledge about the use of places and objects in the novel, their types and functions in the literary work.
5.To be able to read and analyze novels around the theoretical elements, to identify the main conflicts and themes of literary works and to reach their deep meaning.
6.To have knowledge about montage, leitmotiv, narration and demonstration techniques in the novel.
7.To be able to analyze novels within the elements / elements of novel theory.
