To give the general view of French literature in the 17th century. After introducing the historical and social circumstances, lives, works and literary/artistic personalities of certain significant writers and philosophers are given at the necessary level. Providing that students should read some samples written by certain writers and that they should discuss them in the class.
Teaching the 17th century French history and literature in the context of literary genres, writers and their works.
