Objectives of the Course

It is aimed to teach what the History of Art means and professional concepts and terms used in the History of Art.

Course Content

Professional language, basic concepts and terms of the History of Art will be explained. Architecture, painting, crafts used in the History of Art and special terms used in the Christian Art, building elements, materials and techniques used, construction groups are taught with examples. It is elaborated on the examples of the terms in detail.

6.To be able to identify the differences and their usage of terms related to Christian Art and Turkish Art.
7.To be able to explain the scenes depicted in the Christian Art.
8.To be able to describe the tools used in small crafts.
9.To be able to explain what the movable and immovable cultural property is, and comprehend the importance of conservation awareness.

Weekly Detailed Course Contents
Week 1 - Theoretical
Giving information about the objective and content of the course presenting the bibliography related to the course.
Week 2 - Theoretical
Explaining the general concepts and terminology of the History of Art with visuals.
Week 3 - Theoretical
Defining architectural building types (mosques, madrasas, churches, tombs, inns, etc.) and explaining them with visuals.
Week 4 - Theoretical
Defining terms of architectural structure parts and architectural structures elements will be told with visuals by defining cover system, transition and carrier elements.
Week 5 - Theoretical
Description of the relevant terms of construction materials and techniques used will be told with visuals. in the relevant terms, accompanied by visuals.
Week 6 - Theoretical
Architecture-related terms (plans, sections, building survey, restitution, restoration, etc.) will be told with visuals.
Week 7 - Theoretical
Decorative motifs used in architecture and small arts will be told with visuals.
Week 8 - Theoretical
Explaining the kinds of structures, structure components and elements related to the church architecture with visuals.
Week 9 - Theoretical
Explaining concepts and terms used in the art depicting Christian images with visuals.
Week 10 - Theoretical
Decorative motifs used in the Christian architecture and its small arts will be told with visuals.
Week 11 - Theoretical
Explaining the terms used in small arts (carpet, miniature, etc.) with visuals.
Week 12 - Theoretical
Explaining the species and the concerned branches of the History of Art by making the definition of art.
Week 13 - Theoretical
Describing the immovable cultural assets grouped according to structure types briefly.
Week 14 - Theoretical
Describing the movable cultural assets grouped according to their types briefly.
