Objectives of the Course

It is aimed in this course to make students learn basic Arabic and Persian grammar rules in Ottoman paleography; read and understand simple printed Ottoman texts.

Course Content

Writing alphabet, origins of the words, Turkish suffixes in Ottoman script; suffixes to nouns and verbals; types of Arabic words in Turkish; orthography of Arabic words; reading and writing in Ottoman script.

1.To be able to comprehend the basic grammar rules in Arabic in Ottoman language.

5.To be able to read and comprehend printed (not handwritten) texts correctly.
6.To be able to read and comprehend simple handwritten texts correctly.
