Objectives of the Course

To provide general knowledge about the bizantine minor arts. Examples of regional museums, especially small handcrafts over the Byzantine motifs, etc. comparisons are made in the details.

Course Content

Ceramics and seals will be determined according to their functions which were specialized in economically, socially, pertaining to religion and esthetically. The examples of these objects will be introduced chronologically; Early-Middle and Late Byzantine Periods.

Learning Outcomes
1.To be able to comprehend the main concept and terminology about ivory and glass.
2.To be able to distinguish the objects which were produced from 4th to 15th centuries according to their typology, style, technic and chronological order.
3.To be able to associate the items with the modern products of different cultures.
4.To be able to evaluate these artifacts according to workshop, technic-material, the supply and demand points and the user profile. To be able to determine the artifacts socially and economically.
5.The determination of the artifacts within socially and economically.
