Objectives of the Course

The aim of this course is to analyze with students the examples of poetry, prose and drama written in the 17th century England and evaluate these examples by taking the historical, social and cultural context of the 18th century England into consideration.

Course Content

Bu derste 17. Yüzyıl edebiyatı ve tarihi hakkında bilgi verilir ve dönemin yazar, şair ve eserleri incelenir. Bu dönemde şiir, düzyazı ve drama alanında ön plana çıkmış edebi türler ve bu türlerin ayırt edici özellikleri hakkında öğrencilerin bilgi sahibi olmaları sağlanır.

1.1. To have knowledge of the literary works written in the 17th century England.
2.2. To evaluate the literary works considering the social, cultural and historical context of the period.
3.3. To learn the distinctive qualities of the popular genres of the period.

5.5. To approach a text critically and make logical deductions based on textual evidences.
6.6. To have knowledge of English culture, history and literature.
