Objectives of the Course

The aim of this course is to focus on the examples of modernist literature written in the first half of the twentieth century and to analyze the literary techniques and themes used in this period.

Course Content

In this course, students learn the history and literature of the 20th century and analyze the works of the writers of the period. They evaluate the novels of the period in terms of form and content.

1.To have knowledge of the literary works written in the 20th century England.
2.To evaluate the literary works considering the social, cultural and historical context of the period.
3.To evaluate modernist novels in terms of form and content
4.To identify and analyze the implicit and explicit meanings of a literary text.
5.To approach a text critically and make logical deductions based on textual evidences.
6.To have knowledge of English culture, history and literature.
