Objectives of the Course

The aim of this course is to enable the students to acquire a critical understanding of Shakespeare’s dramatic art, literary creativity and significance, and also to form some idea about the life and society of his time. Thus, to develop the students’ skill for criticism and argumentation is the essential aim. It includes his tragedies, comedies.

1.identifies Shakespeare in the social, cultural, political, and literary background of the Elizabethan period.
2.distinguish literary characteristics of the texts.
3.Recognize the historical and the cultural background of the texts.
4.Identifies and analyses the literary and theoretical features of Shakespeare's plays in various genres.
5.To be able to analyse Shakespeare's distinctive tragedies and comedies.
