The primary purpose of this course is to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of the theories, models, and empirical evidence related to economic growth. This course aims to explore the factors that contribute to long-term economic growth. By the end of the course, students will have a deep understanding of the dynamics of economic growth.
This course will examine the main determinants of growth such as capital accumulation, technological progress and human capital. By analyzing both historical and contemporary growth experiences of various countries, the course aims to equip students with analytical tools to evaluate and formulate growth policies. Why some countries are poor and some countries are rich is the main question that will be addressed in the course. Some of the main topics to be covered in the course are: income differences across countries, classical, neoclassical and endogenous growth models, the growth effect of capital accumulation, convergence, and technological progress.
