This course aims to provide students with an understanding of the impact of information on economic processes. The course covers the basic concepts of the information economy, its historical development, the role of technology, digital transformation, and innovative business models. It aims to teach how information provides a competitive advantage in modern economies and shapes global economic dynamics. In addition, by examining public policy, sustainability, ethics, and security issues in the knowledge economy, it aims to develop the ability to translate a broad knowledge of the field into practical applications. Students will thus be equipped to play an active role in the information economy.
This course begins with the basic concepts and historical development of the information economics. Topics such as the economic impact of technology and innovation, the importance of the digital economy and e-commerce, knowledge management, the labour market and competitive advantage are examined in detail. It also covers globalisation, innovative business models, public policy, sustainability, intellectual property rights and ethics. Assessments of the state and future of the information economy in Turkey will provide students with a comprehensive understanding of the field.
