Objectives of the Course

The main objective of the course is to explain the interventions of governments in international economic policy and the need for these interventions. In this context, this course aims to provide students with the ability to analyse and interpret international economic policy at a basic level.

Course Content

Some of the topics to be covered in the course are: customs duties, subsidies and their effects on trade, international capital flows, foreign direct investment, trade policies, balance of payments, foreign exchange market, external balance and price adjustments.

1.Students will have the knowledge, skills, and analytical tools to understand, evaluate, and contribute to discussions and decisions regarding international economic policy.
2.Students develop the ability to analyze and evaluate the impact of various international economic policies on countries, industries, and individuals.
3.Students learn how to assess the effectiveness of different policy interventions in addressing economic challenges at both the domestic and international levels.
4.Students develop a broader understanding of the interconnectedness of the global economy and the implications of international economic policies on different countries and regions.
5.Students will enhance critical thinking skills by evaluating conflicting viewpoints and arguments regarding international economic issues and understand the trade-offs associated with different policy choices.
