The aim of this course is to provide a comprehensive knowledge of the basic concepts and principles of agricultural economics. Topics such as agricultural production, productivity, marketing, and finance will be discussed, and the ability to analyze economic problems in the agricultural sector will be developed. Additionally, current issues such as the historical development of agricultural policy, government intervention, international trade, and food security will be emphasized, along with an awareness of sustainable agricultural practices. The course aims to equip students with the ability to evaluate Turkey's agricultural policies critically and to develop strategic recommendations for the future of the agricultural sector.
The course begins with the basic concepts of agricultural economics, production and productivity analysis. Agricultural marketing, finance, credit systems and government intervention are discussed. Current and global issues such as European Union agricultural policy, international agricultural trade policy and food security are emphasised. Sustainable agriculture, environmental impact, rural development and technological innovation are also important topics. The course concludes with the current status of the agricultural sector in Turkey and future policy recommendations.
