The aim of this course is to analyze the historical development, founding reasons, and core functions of international financial institutions; and to evaluate their impact on the global economy and their relations with Türkiye from a historical and political economy perspective.
This course examines the historical background behind the emergence of international financial institutions, focusing on the post-World War II Bretton Woods system and the restructuring of the capitalist world order. It covers the objectives, operations, and current roles of institutions such as the IMF and the World Bank, and provides a critical analysis of their relationship with Türkiye over time.
