The History of Economic Thought course aims to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of the main currents of economic thought, the reasons for their emergence, their basic principles, and their impact on economic policies. The course aims to give students a critical perspective on contemporary economic problems and policies by analyzing the similarities and differences between economic approaches. It also aims to develop students' ability to evaluate modern economic thought from a historical perspective by helping them understand economic science's evolution and important economists' contributions in this process.
This course examines economic schools of thought such as Mercantilism, Physiocracy, the Classical School, Neoclassical School, Keynesian School, Monetarist School, New Classical School, and Supply Side Economics from a historical perspective. It discusses the basic principles of each school of thought, its leading representatives, and their impact on economic policy. The course enables students to understand the development of different economic theories and their contributions to modern economics.
