Objectives of the Course

This course introduces the necessary knowledge that business students require to assure and control quality in the production processes in practice. The reliability of the production systems is important for the customers. In order to meet the conditions to bring about products convenient for the consumer, quality should be controlled from raw materials to finished goods at every stage of the production. In the face of this necessity, quality control tools and their appropriate utilization will be covered. The need for quality assurance will be discussed for sustainable competetive advantage. In addition, the content of total quality and total quality efforts will be treated. Exposing the students to various approaches in this subject, one target of the course is broaden the horizons of the students and instill awreness of quality in them. In short, this course lays the theoretical and conceptual foundation that students required to know in order to maintain quality control at every stage of production and continous improvement and aims to equip the prospective managers with profieciency in making production decisioms.

Course Content

The concept of quality, Inspection, Reliability, Total Quality Management, Total quality management tools, quality control, quality control tools, quality control tolerance limits, statistical experimental design, deployment of quality function, effects and analysis of Error type, reliability analysis of systems, applications of quality control chart, the impact of quality control on productivity.
