Objectives of the Course

Risk and insurance concepts, to introduce basic concepts used in the insurance business and insurance history. General principles and structure of insurance, types of insurance, the insurance contracts. The current structure and status of Turkish and international insurance operations. Manufacturing, marketing, damages, compensation and provision, reinsurance and alternative risk transfer methods for insurance. The importance of the insurance business, current trends and problems encountered in today's Turkish and the global insurance operations.

Course Content

The importance of risk management, measurement of risk, measurement and management of market risk, value at risk, Basel II, the lessons learnt from experienced financial bankruptcy, risk management in capital markets, hedging techniques, grading risk-return-based investment funds, insurance concept, the insurance operations, development of insurance industry in Turkey and in the world.
