Objectives of the Course

The purpose of the General Criminal Law course is to investigate when a human behavior constitutes a crime and what the sanctions are for human behavior called crime. In addition, it draws attention to the theory of sanctions in Criminal Law and in this context, it discusses and teaches the purpose, characteristics, types of punishment and the principles in determining punishment. In addition, it draws attention to the concept of the elimination of the criminal relationship between the individual and the state in the context of the theory of sanctions and discusses and teaches the reasons that eliminate the criminal relationship. In addition, crimes against persons and property will be examined based on the knowledge of general provisions of Criminal Law.

Course Content

The concept of criminal law, its duty, its nature, its basic concepts, historical development, sources, interpretation, its application in terms of person and country, territoriality, personality and security systems, extradition between states are examined. In addition, within the scope of the general theory of crime, concepts such as crime, action appropriate to the type, elements of illegality and fault, reasons affecting the crime, attempt, socialization of crimes, participation, recurrence, penalties and types, security measures, conditional release, postponement, termination of the penalty and execution relationship are discussed.
