This course aims to provide students, who have been introduced to the basic concepts, world perceptions and theoretical approaches of Western political thought up until this grade, with a general approach to how modern political thought movements influenced Ottoman political thought.
In the course, the main sources that influenced the classical Ottoman political thought will be discussed first. Then, the development of various schools of thought such as nationalism, Islamism, Westernism in the Ottoman lands and their effects on the republican period will be examined.
